IPad is also a good option but you can not do multitasking on it like on laptops. The Surface is a better laptop well suited for tasks like writing editing large spreadsheets and databases and programming. The iPad Pro 749 is much more expensive but if you want to splurge it is a bit nicer than the Air especially for drawing and other creative tasks. A low cost desktop and an IPad are better for meeting all computing needs than a laptop is.
